Pay for the rescue, the surgery, and every year that follows

Wren lost both her front feet to a trap in the hills above Taipei. Like so many of our rescues, she is a victim of the snares set across Taiwan's hillsides, and it took our team six weeks to catch her. The rescue was the quick part. Ahead of her lie months of dressings and antibiotics, and then a safe place for the rest of her life. That is what your gift pays for.

Most of what we do is only possible because of monthly givers

A one-off gift pays a bill that has already arrived. A monthly gift lets us say yes to an animal before we know what the treatment will cost—which is the only way anything caught in a snare gets reached in time.

  • £10 a month helps cover a rescued dog or cat's food and shelter for three days
  • Cancel yourself, any time, in two clicks
  • A short update each month: real animals, named, with outcomes

Choose Monthly in the form below—or give once if that suits you better.

A snare doesn't kill quickly

Wire snares are cheap, legal to buy and impossible to aim. Whatever walks into one pulls it tighter trying to get free. An animal can be held for days before anyone finds them.

Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture counted 141,584 free-roaming dogs in its 2024 survey. We have 473 animals in our care across 3 sanctuaries, and 140 of our dogs have lost a limb.

It is not only snares. We take in cats too sick with a virus to eat, dogs with mange so advanced they have lost most of their coat, animals hit on the road, and the macaques, wild birds and squirrels that nobody else will come out for.

Most charities rehome. We do too—and we keep the ones nobody will take, for the rest of their lives. That is the part your gift pays for.

One of them

Wren

Reported near Zhinan Temple in the tea mountains above Taipei, Wren was surviving on badly injured front legs—both missing their feet—yet still quick enough to slip past every trap. It took our team six weeks of daily visits, trail cameras and sheer persistence to catch her by hand.

Both wounds are inflamed but responding to treatment, so we are hopeful of avoiding further amputation. Ahead lies the long, costly part: weeks of daily dressings, antibiotics and monitoring.

That slow stretch after the rescue is exactly where your support goes furthest.

Your questions

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. Your card details go straight to them—they never touch our website and we never see or store them.

How is my donation used?

71% goes directly on the animals: veterinary care, the sanctuaries and the people who run them. The rest keeps the charity running and brings the next donation in. We show the full breakdown rather than round it up.

Can I give monthly and cancel later?

Yes, and you can do it yourself at any time in your donor dashboard, using the email address you gave when you set the gift up. No login to remember and no retention call.

Can I donate in another currency?

Yes. You can switch currency at the checkout. Whichever you choose, the gift reaches StrayKind in pounds sterling.

Can I claim Gift Aid?

We are applying to HMRC now. Once approved, a UK taxpayer’s gift is worth 25% more at no extra cost, and we will be in touch about past gifts too.

Can I give by bank transfer or cheque?

Yes. Write to info@straykind.org and we will send you our details, or post a cheque to the address at the foot of this page.

Pay for the part that comes after the rescue

Wren has months of dressings and antibiotics ahead of her, and then a safe place for the rest of her life. The next one we are called out to will need the same. That is what your gift pays for—not the day they were found, but every day after it.
